• COMPETITION GUIDELINES


    Competition Requirement

    Category 1: Script Writing

    • This category consists of three subcategories (by language of the script): (1). Bahasa Melayu; (2). English; and (3). Mandarin.
    • Participants are required to produce a script based on the competition theme.
    • All genres are accepted.
    • Each individual or team is required to submit a summary of the script together with the script. Summaries of scripts exceeding the required length will not be accepted.
    • Scripts may be in Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin and/ or English language.
    • Scripts exceeding the required length will not be accepted.
    • Scripts must be the Participant’s original work and not based on source material written by another author. Plagiarism of any kind will result in immediate disqualification.
    • Submitted scripts will not be returned.
    • Each individual or team certifies that the script submitted is the original work of the Participant(s) and has not been produced, sold or optioned at the time of submission and after the submission.
    • If a submitted script becomes produced, purchased or optioned between the time of the submission and the end of the judging period, this will result in the submitted script being ineligible for consideration in the Competition.
    • Once a script has been submitted in the Competition, no substitutions, new drafts or corrected pages will be accepted under any circumstances in order to run a fair competition for all Participants.
    • Participants should not include any extraneous material in their submissions. Extraneous material includes but is not limited to log lines, genres, photographs, pictures, maps, character lists and descriptions, and/or notes to readers. Your script should stand on its own. Any extraneous material helping to “draw a picture” for the reader or to assist the reader in understanding the tone, approach, background, characters, clues, etc. is not appropriate. All of this should be conveyed within the script. Incorporated notes – such as “All dialogue in italics is to be spoken in Mandarin.” – are permissible.

    Category 2: Video Content Creation

    • This category consists of three subcategories (by language of the video content): (1). Bahasa Melayu; (2). English; and (3). Mandarin.
    • Participants are required to produce a video based on the competition theme.
    • All genres are accepted.
    • Video exceeding the required length will not be accepted.
    • Video can be in Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin and/ or English language. It is useful for the videos that are produced by participant(s) to include English subtitles, but the quality of subtitles will not be in one of the judging criteria.
    • All information, music, images and/or graphics that are presented in the video must be cited, giving credit to the original source. Plagiarism of any kind will result in immediate disqualification.
    • Submitted videos will not be returned.
    • Video must not contain any material that are lewd, obscene, sexually explicit, pornographic, disparaging, defamatory, libellous, illegal, offensive, or otherwise contain inappropriate content or objectionable material that would be considered as a criminal offence or that violates any laws. The Organiser reserves the right to remove or demand the removal of such video submission at any time in the Organiser’s sole discretion.
    • Video must be appropriate for viewing by the public and by a multi-cultural international community.
    • Once a video has been submitted in the Competition, no substitutions, new drafts or corrected sections will be accepted under any circumstances in order to run a fair competition for all Participants.
    • By submitting a video, individuals / teams agree to allow the Organiser to use their videos for marketing, promotion, information, and education purposes, at no cost. The Organiser reserves the right to publicise and promote the video for its own purposes. All work will be credited to the creators. The winning video submissions may be branded with the Organiser’s logo at their discretion.
    • The Organiser will not assume any responsibility and/or liability whatsoever arising from any video or portion thereof, and/or for any claims, damages, or losses resulting from the use or dissemination of any video submitted in this Competition.

    Media Platform for Creating Video Contest

    • Participant (s) may use any media platform to create the video.
    • Video created must not consist of any watermark of video maker/ apps brand.

    Submission Format

    Category 1: Script Writing

    • Format: PDF file
    • Script length: 5 to 50 pages
    • Summary of script length: 5 to 8 sentences
    • Font Type: Arial
    • Font Size: 12
    • Line Spacing: 1.15 spacing
    • Margins: 1.5 inches from the left and right margin
    • All pages of script must be numbered.
    • Each individual or team must submit the script in this link

    Category 2: Video Content Creation

    • Format: WMV, MOV, AVI, MP4
    • File Size: Maximum 2GB
    • Video length: maximum of 3 minutes
    • English Subtitles
    • Each individual or team must submit the script at this link

    Timing

    The contest begins on 29th January 2022 at 12.00 p.m. and ends on 30th April 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (UTC +8 Malaysia time).
